Museum Wait Ends
An article published by Newsday on July 23, 2022 explains why there was a three-week delay of the opening of the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum.
“The opening was delayed because of concerns that golf balls from the adjacent West Sayville Golf Course driving range might hit someone… The museum took out extra insurance for that possibility until higher nets are installed in the next few weeks.”
The Museum officially opened on Wednesday, July 20th after 7 years in the making.
“It’s such an amazing feeling… Everybody has put their soul into here, and how to see it open and to see people’s faces and speak to people and know that we’ve crossed the finish line – I’m elated.”
– Chris Wyllie, Museum Executive Director and retired SEAL
