
Senior Chief Bryan S. Mastrangelo is currently re-assigned to USCG Station Jones Beach in Freeport, NY as the Senior Enlisted Reserve Advisor. After attending basic training at Cape May, NJ in 1998, his first duty station was to USCG Station Eatons Neck in Northport, NY. From there he was assigned to USCG Station Jones Beach in Freeport, NY where he took the duties of Weapons Petty Officer and First Lieutenant. During his second enlistment, Mastrangelo obtained many law enforcement qualifications and small boat coxswain certifications, including Heavy Weather Coxswain on the Coast Guard’s 47′ motor lifeboat and a USCG Captains license, Master 100 Gross Tons.
During his free time, Mastrangelo volunteered with the Malverne Volunteer Ambulance Corps as a certified ALS Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician and was awarded the 2006 Volunteer of the Year. He now volunteers with Sayville Community Ambulance Corps. Upon his initial active duty discharge, Mastrangelo was hired as a Detective with the Waterfront Commission Police Department and as a graduate of the FBI Small Arms Instructors School, he was one of the department’s small arms instructors and maintained the small arms training program.
From 2006 to 2007 Mastrangelo served as the Reserve Program Coordinator for USCG Station Jones Beach and was awarded the 1st CG District’s 2006 Reserve Enlisted Person of the Year. In 2007, Mastrangelo was recalled to active duty under Title 10-USC to provide law enforcement support for Navy transports and military outloads until 2010. While serving active duty in San Diego, Mastrangelo attended Miramar College’s Aviation Program and obtained his FAA Fixed Wing Pilots License.
Mastrangelo graduated from the Coast Guard’s Chief Petty Officer Academy Reserve class #25 in 2009 and the Academy’s SLEC in 2013. In 2010 Mastrangelo was appointed a position as a Police Officer with the Suffolk County Police Department, NY where he is assigned to the Highway Patrol Bureau. He is also a member of the Departments Tactical Medic (ALS) Team. He is currently Vice President of the Long Island Chief’s Association, Sergeant at Arms of the Suffolk Police Veterans Association and also serves on the Board of Trustees for the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum/Sea Cadet Training Facility.
