Sayville, NY — The LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum was honored to host the Tunnel to Towers “Steel Across America” Tour as it made its Long Island stop, bringing a powerful piece of 9/11 history to our community.
At the center of the tribute was a steel beam from the South Tower of the World Trade Center, offering visitors a rare and emotional opportunity to witness this artifact firsthand. The event drew strong attendance from community members, veterans, first responders, and supporters, all gathering to remember, reflect, and honor those impacted by September 11, 2001—and the years that followed.
This meaningful moment was also deeply personal for the Museum, as we remembered individuals like Jamie Atkinson, whose life of service and sacrifice continues to inspire our mission.
The event was widely covered across local and national media, highlighting both the significance of the traveling memorial and the role of the Murph Museum in preserving these stories for future generations.
