Dr. Timothy Hearney is a veteran educational leader with more than three decades of experience, Tim currently serves as Superintendent of Schools for the Bayport-Blue Point School District in New York. Throughout his distinguished career, he has led comprehensive strategic planning initiatives, overseen major capital and technology projects, strengthened academic programs, and fostered partnerships that expand opportunities for students and families. His leadership centers on raising academic standards, meeting the individual needs of the students, enhancing professional development, and ensuring the long-term fiscal and organizational health of the district.
Tim has been an active leader at the county and state levels. He served as President of the Suffolk County School Superintendents Association and represented his colleagues statewide as a member of the House of Delegates for the New York State Council of School Superintendents. His professional involvement reflects his commitment to advancing public education beyond his own district.
He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Accountability from St. John’s University, along with advanced degrees and certifications in educational leadership and special education. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including high school principal, assistant superintendent, director of special education, and adjunct faculty member. He is actively involved in several professional organizations and educational boards across New York State.
