Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Legis. Bill Lindsay along with Gardiner Foundation Board member, Supreme Court Justice (ret) Peter Fox Cohalan and Executive Director Kathryn Curran, Friday announced a $300,000 grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation as part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum and Sea Cadet Training Facility, the first U.S. Navy SEAL Museum in the Northeast.
The ceremony featured a presentation by the Gardiner Foundation, who announced that the museum has been awarded a $300,000 grant and presented the museum trustees with a check. This funding comes on the heels of a Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) grant from Gov. Andrew Cuomo originally secured by former State Sen. Tom Croci for $400,000.
Maureen Murphy, Gold Star mother of the Navy Seal Museum’s namesake Michael P. Murphy, boarded an excavator to dig the ceremonial first bucket of dirt for the foundation of the museum.

For all concerned
Today in israel, we mark the Memorial Day for those who killed in action In the wars of defending Israel.
Once a year at 11:00 am, all activity in Israel stops and we all stand still for two minutes, while siren is heard across the country, in memory of the fallen.
Few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to read at Wikipedia on Michael P. Murphy and today while stood still, I remembered him and other American fighters who fell in the United States defensive wars and so, from now on every year at 11:00 when I will stand quietly in memory of the Israeli fallen, it will also be for the American fallen
Maybe in Israel, we know it better than anywhere else, that the sadness that accompanies the death of a family member in battle, there is no expiration date.
Please give my condolences to Daniel and Maureen Murphy and any other bereaved family that you are in contact with.
May you never know sorrow again.
